Need to start selling online?
In these unprecedented times for businesses it is important to think about ways to evolve in order to continue to sell products and services to customers.
For many retailers who normally sell from a premises or perhaps solely business to business, the whole sales process has gone out of the window. This means that retailers need to look for new channels so that they can continue to sell their products and keep their business running through these very difficult circumstances.
We can help.
Sell products on your website
Selling your products on your website is actually a lot easier (and cheaper) than you may think. At Dolia, we use the Shopify eCommerce platform to help our clients quickly and cost-effectively sell their products online. We can either help embed products into an existing website, or set up a stand-alone website just for selling products.
What does it cost to sell online?
Shopify has a few different pricing options… but the two options we tend to use for our clients are roughly between £10 and £25 per month, so a relatively small investment to get selling online. On top of the monthly fee from Shopify, you’ll also have to pay a fee per sale which is currently 2.2% + 20p per sale if you opt to use Shopify’s own payment gateway, which we’d recommend as it’s super easy to set up. In addition to the Shopify costs, you’ll have the one-off costs to get everything set up in terms of adding products, setting up shipping/postage rules, configuration and website integration. The cost here depends on how complex the products are (and how many) but this can be from as little as £360+VAT.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Shopify is offering an extended 90-day free trial so this helps to keep costs to your business at a minimum whilst you get things up and running.
Can I manage the online shop?
Yes! Once the shop is set up, you can manage it yourself 100%. You can make changes to products, add new products and manage orders, all from the Shopify Admin Portal. Of course, if you need help and support with the shop, we’ll be on hand to help, but there won’t be any ongoing costs from us.
Is it easy to use for customers?
The Shopify platform is used by over 1 million businesses worldwide, so they must be doing something right! It is super slick and really easy for customers to use, which is what we love about it. The website integration for Shopify Lite is seamless and works really well. We’ve had great feedback from our clients on how well the Shopify sites have worked for their customers.
Some examples include:
My products are not physical, can I still sell online?
Yes, of course. If you don’t have a physical product that you need to ship, you can still provide your services online for people to purchase. For example, if you are a Yoga or Fitness instructor, you may wish to provide your clients with classes which they can pay for online. Or perhaps you are a teacher or tutor, and are offering 1-1 private classes for students which can be paid for online.
I’m a Pub or Restaurant – how does this work?
Selling online for Pubs or Restaurants will be new territory and perhaps a little daunting. We can help you create products (menus) online so that customers can browse through, order and pay without having to pay over the phone or in-store, which is really important to try and avoid where possible. Selling food online for Pubs and Restaurants is really easy and will help to keep the business ticking over whilst times are hard.
