In 2020, we took part in a joint marathon as part of our #happyheads mental health campaign, walking or running just over 46km in support of mental health charity, Mind. Since that was such a great success, we decided to do it again this year, but with a difference...
On Friday 30th July 2021, we successfully completed two marathons as a team, managing 84km between us! This year, we decided to support YPI Counselling, a local mental health charity who offer confidential counselling services to young people aged 11-25 in the Basingstoke area.
With life starting to return to "normal", there is still a lot of anxiety surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. This, alongside the everyday pressures of work and home life, can take its toll on our minds. Adjusting to working from the office again, starting a new job remotely, or trying to find the balance between remote and office working... It can all be quite stressful. We wanted to take action to raise awareness and support those who are struggling with their mental health.
This time round, it wasn't about raising money as such - we wanted to help raise awareness of mental health both in the workplace and also in our communities. However, we would like to thank anyone who donated to YPI Counselling in support of Dolia, as this will be a great help to the charity. They are passionate about promoting happier, healthier young minds, so they are the perfect cause for us to back. Click here to find out how you can support YPI.
Take a look at the journeys we went on for our Morning Marathon, and view the scenery along the way. Unfortunately, it was a rainy, gloomy morning for most of us!
After we had all finished our stretches of the marathon, we met up at Nando's to celebrate! Although it was exhausting, we were proud to have achieved our target. Roll on next year...
